Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge could bring back microSD, go waterproof

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge could bring back microSD, go waterproof

A new report claims the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will bring back two features - a microSD card slot and IP67 water resistance - both of which were missing in last year's flagship Galaxy S6 range.

The new flagship handsets will also come with a bigger battery, according to the report from Venture Beat, though it won't be removable.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will also get a new camera that sits flush with the back of the phone, and though the report says it will have a lower megapixel count at 12MP, it will have an improved low-light performance.

Waiting on an announcement

With Samsung expected to announce the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge during Mobile World Congress in February, we suggest taking the above with a grain of salt, though the addition of these features wouldn't be too surprising as this is not the first we've heard this rumor.

A leak just over a week ago pegged Samsung to release two versions of the flagship phone later this year, with the report claiming the Galaxy S7 will have 5.2-inch display and the Edge to have a 5.5-inch curved-edge screen.

The handsets are also rumored to look fairly similar to the Galaxy S6 range, and both are rumored to support Type-C connectors.

And with just over a month to Mobile World Congress, expect to hear a lot more about Samsung's flagship handsets over the next few weeks.
