5 things you need to know about Sony's Xperia Z5 range

Do you need to upgrade your phone but want something a little bit different? Sony has just announced its new Xperia Z5 range including the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium; and there's something for everyone.
The new phones include a huge amount of new features that you can show off to your mates and make you the envy of every other smartphone fan.
We've had some hands-on time with the devices and here are the top five things we think you need to know about the new Xperia Z5 range.

1. Next generation cameras

Sony's Xperia flagship range has been known to push the boundaries with its camera technology, but now it has created the world's best camera in a leading smartphone.
Sony has upped the camera in all three of the new phones by treating users to a huge 23MP sensor for the first time. This is paired with hybrid autofocus technology, which means you will never miss a moment again.
There's even 5x Clear Image Zoom technology on board to improve your long distance shots, as well as all the fantastic Xperia features - such as 4K video recording, face detection and panoramic mode - you have come to expect from the range.
Plus there's also a 5.1MP camera on the front for your selfie shooting that offers full HD recording and is also great for video chats.

2. World's first 4K smartphone

Xperia Z5 Premium
Sony has done it. The Japanese manufacturer is the first to put a 4K display on a smartphone, and it looks beautiful.
Pick up the Xperia Z5 Premium and you're going to be looking at the 5.5-inch 4K display all day, with the highest pixels-per-inch available on the market at 806ppi.
This is the first time it has ever been done and it looks truly stunning, as you will know if you've been lucky enough to clap eyes on a 4K display before. Watching video or scrolling through your holiday snaps on this smartphone will make them look the best they possibly can.

3. Batteries that just keep on going

Xperia Z5 Premium
Sony has had strong battery life in all of the Xperia Z series, but it has made even more waves in the area with the new Z5 range.
Each phone has up to two days of battery life with fast charging technology built in to get you from zero to 60% in 30 minutes flat. Sony's Xperia Z5 features a 2900mAh cell inside whilst the Xperia Z5 Compact features a 2700mAh version.
The Xperia Z5 Premium features a much bigger cell than what we've seen before to power that 4K display at 3430mAh.
You're never going to be stuck without any charge on the Xperia Z5 range - meaning you're always set to keep going no matter what time of day it is.

4. Fingerprint scanning for all

Xperia Z5 Compact
Sony has now introduced a fingerprint scanner on the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium.
The new phones all feature an integrated fingerprint scanner on the power button at the side of the device, which feels natural and at the touch of any of your fingers or thumbs will unlock your phone
When Android Pay launches you'll be able to authenticate each transaction, literally with the tap of a finger. It's simple to use and will make your phone a lot more secure than a simple PIN code.

5. Lifeproof design

Sony's new Xperia Z5 range is one of the most durable smartphones you can pick up right now. Unlike most of the competition, the Xperia Z5 is waterproof, so you can take the phone out in the rain, or wash it off under the tap without worrying that it is going to get damaged.
It's also dustproof so taking it to the beach isn't going to cause any problems with sand becoming lodged in the phone.
All these features come together to create one of the best smartphones available on the market right now. The Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium all boast the best camera on a smartphone as well as innovative new features such as a fingerprint scanner and batteries that last for two days.
