Samsung's Galaxy S7 is going to have it tough after the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were so brilliant – but it seems Samsung is determined to make it work with new, powerful processors in the mix.
Rumours of the Exynos 8890 chipset came out a few days back and now there are benchmarking scores for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which is also expected to feature in a version of the phone.
The new benchmarking score was posted on the Chinese social networking site Weibo with a score of 5423 points. The Exynos 8890 chipset is quite a bit higher though at 6908.
Powerful innards
When you compare it to other high-end phones on the market, it highlights how powerful Qualcomm's new option is.
The iPhone 6S Plus scored a multi-core result of 4351 while the iPad Pro came out with 5468. That's a top-of-the-range tablet just beating out the Galaxy S7 Snapdragon version.
Samsung decided to drop Qualcomm for the Galaxy S6 and it paid off for the company – the Snapdragon 810 chipset has had some serious overheating issues that the Galaxy phones have managed to avoid by not including it.
However, take these benchmarking results with a pinch of salt - there's no full guarantee each is accurate.
