Google Home deal saves you $20, just in time for Father’s Day

Should Apple's newly announced HomePod be a little too pricey for your blood, Google's own smart speaker is going on sale.

Starting now at select retailers, Google Home is taking $20 off its asking price — bringing the $129 speaker down to $109.

Even when it's not on sale, Google Home doesn't even come close to matching the HomePod's hefty $349 price tag. The competing Amazon Echo goes for $179, making Google Home an easier sell price-wise — though the most cost-efficient way to augment your home with a digital assistant is still the scaled-down Echo Dot for $49.

If convinced, you can pick up a discounted Google Home from the Google Store, Best Buy, and Target. As is the case with most retailer promotions, the $20 off only applies while supplies last.

According to SlashGear, the sale lasts until June 18 — Father's Day — so don't dawdle if you're still looking for a last-minute gift for Pop, lest you have to wait all the way until Black Friday for another good deal.
