The Samsung Galaxy S7 release date may have leaked out

The Samsung Galaxy S7 release date may have leaked out

We're all eager to see what Samsung has in store for its 2016 smartphone line-up - the South Korean firm is expected to unveil the Galaxy S7 (and its variants) at Mobile World Congress at the end of February.

But when will these phones go on sale? Well-known tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has dropped the biggest hint yet, suggesting the handsets are going to be available to buy from Friday 11 March, at least in the US.

For now we only have a solitary tweet as evidence so don't book the day off work just yet... but it would put the Galaxy S7 family of phones ahead of its predecessors - the main Galaxy S6 pair of handsets went on sale on 10 April last year.

Springing into stores?

It makes sense for Samsung to get its handset out in the wild at the earliest opportunity: the company is going to want to make the most of its head-start over Apple and the 2016 iPhones, and it fits with previous rumours we've heard about an early Galaxy S7 launch.

There have been plenty of interesting hints dropped about Samsung's next flagship from the supply chain and other sources: we might be seeing liquid cooling, the return of the microSD slot, and a significant upgrade to the camera specs if all the rumours are true.

We'll be on the ground in Barcelona at MWC to bring you the Galaxy S7 news as it breaks. In the meantime, you might want to adjust your savings plan to accommodate an early March on-sale date for the new handsets.
